Opscode Chef Fundamentals (3 Days)
Opscode Chef Fundamentals is a three-day comprehensive class covering the basic architecture of Chef and its associated tools. Each of the nine core units in the class includes a hands on exercise to reinforce the material discussed. At the end of the class, students will have a repository that can be used and modified to solve real business problems.

- Getting started with Opscode Hosted Chef.
- Anatomy of a Chef run in depth.
- Using shared cookbooks and writing new cookbooks.
- Managing nodes by roles.
- Building real data-driven infrastructure.
Pricing:
- Public: $2100 per attendee.
- On-premise: $6750 for up to 10 students, $575 per additional up to 16.

Opscode Chef Advanced (2 Days)
Opscode Chef Advanced is a two-day class designed for advanced Chef developers and administrators. This class covers advanced cookbook development and usage, including custom libraries, lightweight resources and providers, and how to integrate Chef as a configuration component within other systems and applications. Each of the seven core units in the class includes a hands on exercise to reinforce the material discussed. At the end of the class, students will be prepared to integrate Chef into their own tools, workflows and use patterns.
Topics covered by this course include:
- Using the interactive Chef debugger, Shef.
- Chef's Ruby objects in depth.
- Building custom lightweight resources and providers.
- Ohai and Knife plugin development.
- Report and exception handler customization.

- Public: $1400 per attendee.
- On-premise: $4500 for up to 10 students, $575 per additional up to 16.

Opscode Chef Cooking Basics (5 Days)
The Opscode Chef Cooking Basics package is a 5 day crash course in getting started using Hosted Chef to fully automate your infrastructure. It includes the Chef Fundamentals course plus customized content based on customer needs.
This package includes:
- Opscode's 3 day Chef Fundamentals with instructor-led hands on exercises.
- Implementing existing Chef cookbooks from the Community site.
- New Chef cookbooks and custom code where required.
- Migration from existing configuration management including manual processes, homegrown tools and other solutions.
- Knowledge transfer to train the trainers and ready teams to manage infrastructure.
- Documentation for custom cookbooks and code solutions.
Pricing:
- On-premise: $10,950 + travel/lodging for up to 10 attendees, $575 per additional up to 16.
